Utility Truck / Hand Truck Repair

This project involved a MIG weld to repair an old utility truck / hand truck. The owner of the hand truck used it for year to move items in his shop and to move furniture in several residential moves. The hand truck has a capacity to move up to 350lbs., and it can be used upright or as a flat bed. Thus, the hand truck was very useful to the owner. One day, the owner lost one of the wheels and asked to have it repaired. The wheel not only needed to be replaced, but the opposite side also needed replacement to even out the hand truck. Also, most of the hand truck was aluminum and the owner thought it could not be repaired. The hand truck was altered, and two metal plates were welded to the only steel portion of the hand truck where it holds the wheels. The plates were then secured to the plate of the new wheels that contain brakes making the hand truck more useful. The owner was very happy with the result and continues to use the truck for many heavy-duty construction tasks.
